Just checked on Bossip and there is some ridiculous quote he told Allhiphop, stating:

Besides his comment smacking of racist overtones towards white women, the fact that he generalises black girls in the mix just is infuriating! Look at the messages of this quote: submission is good, independence is bad. Am I the only one who thinks he is trying to be like one of the animals in the film version of animal farm by changing the ‘rules’? I could swear all day but I will restrain myself. What do you think? Is this funny or does it highlight an essential problem in gender communication of black men and women ?
The worst part of the interview is the way he is just trying to almost put black women down by comparing them to the white women he has gone out with. Does he think because he has ”made” it that he is automatically inclined to chat bare noise like that? His words hint to confusion for our black people globally: do people *really* think like this?

He also states that he is his parents child. Nothing is gonna trump his black mother, and trust he will be looking for the same qualities in his lifetime partner. It’s really sad to see comments like this, but I think this fool represents a real and accurate feeling in the African American male community. These comments also indicate a self hatred that I have sadly witnessed all over our community. It isn’t only black men that hate themselves and want to be white. Far too often I’ve seen both men and women in our community that have defected to white culture in several different avenues. As much as black men want to be and live like white men, the same holds true for my sistas. From the products that you put in your hair to the acids you put on your skin it’s all the same; self hatred. How many black women wear weaves/ extentions ect? How many of you wear those colored contacts? How many of you work so hard to hide and burn off those beautiful curves? To be honest it really saddens me to see my sistas internalize white cultural standards of beauty. I for one don’t like the thin pre-pubescent look but to be honest the black man isn’t the only one who has defected into the whiteness. It’s true that we as a community have issues but before you hate on this fool let us all first look within, so that we can heal the damage that’s hurting us as a people from the inside-out.

The dude is an idiot. His ignorant statement should be looked at as an idiot saying things an idiot would say. Theres no shortage of idiots in our community it is one of the reasons many of us hate ourselves. Just think about how dark skinned black people have been treated by all other black people. Think about all of the ignorant and hateful as@ things said to darkskinned people then you will understand why that idiot said what he said about black women.
IET – i agree with the sentiments you have said but I do think many black women (including myself) have embraced the natural way. i think black women must look within to deal with the damage of eurocentric beauty ideals but at the same time, i think black women need help from their black brothers too. if you saw some of the comments on the allhiphop thread, this kind of ‘help’ won’t be coming anytime soon from some of the men who commented there.

Polow’s comments were hurtful because they attacked both parts of my identity which is black and female, the latter of which is bruised and battered by some black men in the US, who are so damn thick to realise that their message is trasmitted all over the world.

I think he was partly tryin to say that black women are combative and to a point I agree, white women do seem nicer then black women. I have had black girls look at me like I was shit, like to tell me don’t even think about tryin to talk to me. That is a problem why do you have to be mean as hell to anyone who walks in 15 feet of you I think that contributes to why black women are the least married people in the U.S. Now I’m not saying I prefer white women cause thats not the case but as a young black man who grew up in a black area and attends an HBCU white women are easier to talk to and less likely to have an attitude when you try to talk to them. mark bey: Czar I feel you and the attitude problem with black women. But I feel like the attitude that black women show is nutured in the communities that we all grow up in. In these communities thier is no lack of attitude problems and issues going on by most of us.
The question can also be asked why are brothas always muging on each other with hostility in the hood. No one says anything or does enough to stop this anti social behavior when we are young.
To me the attitude problem with black women mainly stems from our lack of respect for ourselves as a group and our culture of demeaning each other, specifically all of the name calling and ridiculing we do to each other.

We have a culture has less respect for education than all other groups in this country.

We have a culture where parents blame the schools but refused to admit that the average black american (parent and children) will have to change their attitude and behavior towards educatioin.
We have a culture where rappers are allowed to get on tv and tell our precious boys and girls to allow murdurers and rapist to live in the community amongst children and babies and he suffers no finicial consequence.

Another thing that bothers me is when some brothers start talking about black women need to be natural, but these same brothers still chase after women with long silky straight hair. These same brothers will even clown black women for going natural, or tell them it is unattractive. Some sisters even follow suite. How in the world do you expect black women to show you love, support, and respect when you cannot even show the same to black women?
