“You won’t see this photo on CNN. Everyone is too busy showing the Queen being touched. This was a moment of “touching” that won’t be forgotten by this bobby.”
I imagined myself as the guard who probably put his job on the line by breaking protocol to touch this brotha who is literally at the pinnacle of the political & free world. A brotha!
If I were the guard, I think I would have had to go there too. Just looking at his smile shows you the sheer impact of what Barack Obama means to Negroes around the world.
And to jock Obama’s swagger, you can see it just exuding even from the back. My boy knows his shit is popping!
Yeah, I know that I have stated that I am sick of all things Obama, but this one image pulled me out of that zone for a hot minute. Two Negroes! One photograph! One thousand words!
We are Obama. Obama is us. But if he fucks up, we have to hold him accountable, flat out!
I’m just saying.

Nice post.
It speaks volumes. Especially noting how the police force in the UK is wildly racist.
And why are you sick of all things Obama? It’s a great moment. It’s going to get ugly very soon with his haters coming out of the woodwork already.
The humility and simplicity of President Obama is amazing!Wherever he goes, he has no arrogance to remind anyone that he is the US President, he wants everyone to feel that he is approachable. If Leaders and Royalty can adopt the same moral values, this World would be a better, there would be peace, there would equal distribution of resources, simply, this place would be like what we imagined as Heaven!
Regardless of what he achieves (or not) in the presidency, there is no doubt that Obama is a cultural icon, especially for those of African descent throughout the world. When he came to Canada, Black people from around the country and the Detroit area, came to Ottawa to get a glimpse of him… and that’s all they got… a glimpse! He was not scheduled to give a public speech or hold a town hall meeting with the people of Canada, like he did in France. Yet they came.
He was here in the capital for approximately 6 hours and when he was leaving, he stopped in the “market” to get some cookies for his daughters. He was served by a young Black woman and took a photo with her. In her interview, it was obvious that she was awestruck and proud to be able to meet him. It was a moment she will never forget.
That’s a genuinely beautiful picture. I’m not happy with everything Obama’s done so far, and I’m sure there will be more disagreements to come, but when he’s good he is damn good. This really made my day.
A poignant moment. I was please when you Americans voted in Obama. He was the best option and I hope he does well. But you have to know this recession/depression has been on the cards for a few years now and he’s going to be blamed, as the worst of it will be felt on his watch, even though it was all set up by Bush’s actions. Which is sad. Some will try to use it as proof that a black man can’t lead and it may be a long time before we see another black president of USA. I hope I’m wrong.
Well we are waiting for Obama to come back to Canada. He has an even higher approval rating here. The Obama election was felt all over the world. I wonder if he knows he does not have to be born in Canada to be Prime Minister. We will glad take him when you Americans are through with him.
Hi Aulelia, What I mean when I am sick of all things Obama is, that I just want to be able to enjoy entertainment, news etc without being inundated with images, good & bad information on Obama. After I left the inauguration in DC, I noticed how media was basically giving me an overdose on Obama.
Obama – shoes, kids, wife, dog, abortion stance, guantanamo bay, dildos, t-stirts, body spray, chicken dinners, dances, aprons, pencils. Its just too much.
I understand his significance, mos def but when is enough enough?
But like I said, when I saw this image, I forgot all about my being over Obamafied. I got that old thang back for a minute.
Im just saying.
