So you may have read my little rant the other day about one of the sappiest apologies that I’ve heard from a racist in two weeks. Well, today another one came well kinda from the US Senate, who is issuing a non-binding apology for slavery & Jim Crow.
Its non-binding because Obama does not have to sign nor acknowledge it. Hmmmm.
Senate passes apology for slavery, segregation:
The Senate has unanimously passed a resolution apologizing for slavery and racial segregation and sent the measure to the House.
Iowa Democrat Tom Harkin first introduced the measure years ago but wanted it passed Thursday on the eve of Juneteenth – a day of celebration commemorating the end of the Civil War and the release of African Americans from slavery. He said the House is to take it up soon and that a formal celebration will be held next month in the Capitol Rotunda.
The Senate has passed such nonbinding but highly symbolic resolutions before, apologizing for such things as the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II.
The resolution passed Thursday includes a disclaimer saying that nothing in it supports or authorizes reparations by the United States.
Well why not make the resolution binding for the books? No, for real, I want to know.
Is this an attempt to kiss up to the new Black Boss aKa the Black Messiah (“If I said it & I meant it, I bite my tongue for no one. Call me evil or unbelievable” Notorious BIG).
Is this an attempt for Dems & Reps to show that they are down for the Negro. No, for real, I want to know.
If the US Senate wants to impress me, make the resolution binding & give me Juneteenth off! Shit, I need another holiday off. I’m just saying.
Just think about it for a minute. If the resolution was binding & Obama signed it. US Negroes would have a strong basis for reparations like other groups that were victimized by the US.
Like many comedians & myself have said, if we are allowed to have reparations, Negroes could as a consuming group singlehandedly pull the country out of the recession.
Paying reparations = ending the recession.
Chrysler, GM & Ford would be back in business big time. I know many of my peeps would have a new Caddy, 300 or Taurus. I’m just saying.
The only reason I believe the U.S. senate apologized in the first place is to suck up to the president. Why apologize now? This was way over due. African Americans built this country and an apology should be just the start. Reparations would be nice but I don’t see it happening because there is modern racism throughout the government and country. They might apologize because it’s the right thing to do but actions speak louder than words. Whatever the action might be, it should be something that will boost our economy and end the recession.
They are not sucking up to Obama – they know he’s not down with us. They are showing out to the white liberal/progressive fencesitters who have had just about enough of us. They are trying to bring THEM back into the fold.
It goes something like this:
“See,” they’ll say, “we gave them a (P)resident, we gave them a resolution, racism is dead, damnit and still they rise….rise UP against the white hand that feeds them! You can’t satisfy these nikkuhs! Ya’ll need to swallow that white guilt and get down with your own kind…”
Don’t apologize, make amends. Making amends costs you something. Apologizing is what the drunk does who acts a full cuz of his hangover, knowing he’s gonna get plastered.
Puhleaze?!
