About asabagna
I go by the name of Asabagna Alatentou, "Asa" for short. I took this name as my African/Spiritual name when I went on a pilgrimage to West Africa in 1997. I visited Senegal, The Gambia and Ghana. "Asabagna" means "hunter" and I received that name during a naming ceremony when I visited a village in northern Ghana. "Alatentou" is Mandingo for "God is gracious" and I received that name from a village Griot in Senegal. I was born in England and my parents are of Jamaican heritage. I spent most of my formative years in Jamaica, but grew up primarily in Toronto Canada. I currently live in Ottawa, the national capital of Canada. I am professionally employed, married, 2 wonderful kids and regularly attend a Pentecostal church. I am a born-again Christian. I do not consider myself conservative or liberal, right-wing or left-wing, centrist etc., or any of the multiple categories that society likes to confine and define people by. However, I do have strong views, beliefs and opinions but I also consider myself open to listening and contemplating other viewpoints. I am a firm believer that "if you don't believe in something, you will fall for anything".
Pushing for the Black Stars. Brazil is out!
Represent, Black Stars.
I viewed the match. Went down to the shootout! Although Ghana will not advance to the semi-finals, the team should be very proud of its achievements, and so should Ghana, and the entire continent of Africa.
WOW! What a game. I thought that Asamoah Gyan would seal the victory with the penalty kick at the end of the second overtime period. When he missed the shot my heart sank. I knew then that it was over.
The Black Stars should indeed be proud of their achievement. I know I am.
Now my dilemma is who do I root for!? I think I will have to go for the Netherlands, since they are the team left with the most Black players on it! lol!
I feel sad by the not so fair way uruguay made sure to let Ghana out.
I am so proud for Ghana and my love for HER is more than ever. Each year that passes I feel more and more the need to be close to Ghana!
WELL DONE GHANA, you have united Africa and made the whole continent proud.
The players are still young and they will come back with more fire.
Netherlands to win ;)!
Hubby and I haven’t been able to watch the games until after they’re played. After Nigerian fiasco hubby no longer claimed the country as his. He decided to become a Ghanaian, until he found out about that missed kick!! He’s no longer Ghanaian.
So I asked “who are you now, a Dutch man? He said, “I think so” lol!
Congrats to the Ghana Black Stars, anyway!!!
From Nigerian to Ghanaian to Dutch! I feel him. I hope the Germans win too over Argentina. They are the team with the most black players after Netherlands. My God!? I am living a bad dream! LMAO!
