About asabagna
I go by the name of Asabagna Alatentou, "Asa" for short. I took this name as my African/Spiritual name when I went on a pilgrimage to West Africa in 1997. I visited Senegal, The Gambia and Ghana. "Asabagna" means "hunter" and I received that name during a naming ceremony when I visited a village in northern Ghana. "Alatentou" is Mandingo for "God is gracious" and I received that name from a village Griot in Senegal. I was born in England and my parents are of Jamaican heritage. I spent most of my formative years in Jamaica, but grew up primarily in Toronto Canada. I currently live in Ottawa, the national capital of Canada. I am professionally employed, married, 2 wonderful kids and regularly attend a Pentecostal church. I am a born-again Christian. I do not consider myself conservative or liberal, right-wing or left-wing, centrist etc., or any of the multiple categories that society likes to confine and define people by. However, I do have strong views, beliefs and opinions but I also consider myself open to listening and contemplating other viewpoints. I am a firm believer that "if you don't believe in something, you will fall for anything".
I think that Peter Hitchen fellow (author of China creating a slave empire etc) is pissed that his country didn’t get to it more successfully lol.
He’s dripping with upsetness that I just dom’t buy. Naybe I just dom’t like the picture with Peter having his arms around the elusive “King Cobra”
A very “here-is-how-I-want-you-to-feel-on-this-matter” type of article.
“Moving forward into our collective Afro-Future, individually and as a people we need to embrace a spirit of evolution…”
Asa, this is the truth. I remember some time back here on the Afrospear I said that Revolution is really to Re-Evolve at this point in time, and I was roundly smacked up for saying this. I was reminded by the commenter that revolution has nothing to do with evolving but to revolt. Of course I knew the definition of the word as it’s given in the dictionary, yet I believe we are at a juncture where we must either begin to RE-define words or take them back to their etymological roots.
For we, heavily melanated beings, “Black” people,we will not win a revolt such as those taking place in Northern Africa. The pale beings and some of their heavily melanated agents, have found great pleasure in slaughering us with their weapons and making the world believe and accept that our destruction was and is valid.
We must embrace another tact. And that is of evolving into being. Our Re-Evolving will launch the world’s people into the next phase of where we need to go. And I believe the evolution of ourselves must begin on the cellular level. We cannot sit as world leaders full of heart disease, diabetes, HIV, COPD or someother avoidable malady.
So are you saying that once we increase our thought patterns to the teachings of MA’AT?
