It was very difficult for me to watch this. It is very difficult for me to understand how individuals can enslave any child or even worse, the children of their own blood relatives.
What kind of monster would do such a thing?
It is also obvious that Haiti never developed institutions/organizations to deal with these type of situations or to even take care of orphan children.
I also find it very ironic that Al Jazeera has ignored in this series, the very region where slavery takes place the most, the Muslim world.

Actually, Episode 3 on Bonded Slaves discusses slavery in Pakistan.
How do we fight against such ways of thinking? It is thought, manifest into action, that allows for such a custom of destroying one’s self. How then, do we get a mass of people to think that by hurting others we are hurting ourselves?
We have a responsibility as a people to take care of our own (melanin-efficient) action trumps feeling sorry for those in bondage any day. Figure out a plan and make your own moves towards what you feel is the solution.
this is so sad, I count my blessings everyday for having a rather normal childhood
