but have no idea who this is
if all our daughters aspire to be this
and none have the desire to achieve this
if all you do is blame this
yet are silent about this
if you take the time to debate the merits of this
yet have not acquired the knowledge to discuss this
if you are disgusted by this
but you chuckle at this
if every Sunday you run to worship this
while Monday to Saturday you walk by this
then you need to take responsibility to free your ghetto mind!

Well said Asa….there’s always a need for improvement.
This article points out the deep seated problems of the MIND that are really at the root of destroying our communities…causing violence, poverty, and other problems.
Pres. Obama will use 2 Bibles for his swearing in ceremony…(1) Abe Lincolns’ and (2) Dr. M. L. King’s Bible. He says that they are 2 men whom he most admires. His historic 2nd Inauguration will occur on MARTIN LUTHER DAY this time…which ancient Indians predicted would be a time that would mark the beginning of “great changes.”
Most of us have heard the ‘I HAVE A DREAM SPEECH.” But many of us do not realize that one of Dr. King’s dreams was to wipe out poverty. Poverty was at an all time high in 2009.
As we watch many GUN NUTS ranting about “protecting their 2nd Amendment rights” (while supporting rightwing politicians who want to cut off funds that would help stop poverty) ….we should remember that millions of people have not had the right or opportunity to …. “liberty and the pursuit of happiness” because of POVERTY.

I love this blog, I found it by accident. I totally agree with all the above. TRUTH. Dr. Neil Degrasse is a brilliant brother, yet I doubt if half of the youths in urban communities and adults as well know who he is. And you are right if people are warming the pews on Sundays yet over looking the poor then there is a problem with their spirtuallity. I think Jesus said if you do this to the least of these you do it to him. So lots of black people need to do lots of self examination myself included. I will be dilligent to read about the history of our people. And be dilligent to be obedient to the word of the Lord as well. This blog is so awesome.
