I am a single parent and have been for a while, I think that it is garbage for a judge to tell a person to take care of what you know is yours!! I have never asked for child support from my girls father. If he doesn’t want to do the right thing he will reap what he sows in the long run. My girls don’t really have that much to do with their dad because of this and it hurts him to the core!!

Truthfully I would rather have the father’s time versus money if it came down to it. I would like the courts to order and demand fathers to spend time with there kids. Is the child now expected to live in low income housing in an one room apartment, with it sleeping in the living room, then envy the Dad’s housing. Four years of college at an HBCU is around 80,000 dollars, what will it be in 18 years. Four years at a top 10, around 200,000 dollars.
You may say that 55,000 may be too much, but it doesn’t justify the quote. Celebrities don’t get off cheap. Talking that crap in no way speaks to the responsibility Nas has to that child. It also bothers me that no one ever think its the responsibility of the male to use birth control, so they would never be in this situation.

I would bet there are many white children getting that kind of child support, that is why the court awarded it, it is probably based on precedence. If they are in a state that has community property, she’ll get alimony worth 50 percent of his assets. I guess the law is not suppose to apply equally to black women and children.

Let both parents have joint custody of the child,she get out and get a Damn job they establish a trust fund for the child they both pay the same amount monthly to take care of the child. how much of this money is actually going to be spent on this child? how much electricity water etc. . .is determined to be used by this child? what is the cost of the diapers and clothing and washing of these clothes? and what is the cost of the formula and baby cereal? what is the share of rent to cost this child? child support is supposed to be used to ASSIST the custodial parent to raise the child. . .not be used as 100 total % to take care of the child there are guidelines used to determine what the non custodial parent pays and the income of the custodial parent is used also to figure out this amount. . . this is an unusually high amount no matter what the income amounts are . . . i have collected child support for my children. . .and the father in question was someone of the higher income bracket. . . ( he was a federal employee with a hush hush goverment job with security clearance etc. . .)he didnt deny paternity. . .and my child support wasnt even $600 . . .if i can do it and i also had 2 additional children to take care of. . .she can too on a lesser amount. . . First of all I’m a single mother with 4 children. I just get child support for my oldest only because her daddy went to the court systems and said he wanted to pay child support. Keep in mind that he wasn’t paying regularly and he just had 1 CHILD to take care of. 15 years later, he has 4 total and 1 on the way, but now the courts are taking it out of his check. I say that to say this; child support is for the child and the expenses that come with raising that child. Now some females will get pissed by my next statement, but oh well, Aint no way in hell it takes 55 G’s to take care of 1 newborn child. If you’re not their lawyer or accountant with details of thier situation then it is NOYB. For Nas and Kelis particularly, she had her own career and money when he met her and if he did not want to have to in the end fork up his fortune to this women knowing what it costs to even be with her, then why did he choose her?
